The Conservatory of Flowers

The Conservatory of Flowers, located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, has captivated guests for more than a century. This gem of Victorian architecture has a long and storied history and is the oldest wood and glass conservatory in North America. A city, state, and national historic landmark, it remains one of the most beloved attractions in the park, featuring a collection of rare, exotic plants and beautiful, tropical flowers.

Each of the Conservatory’s four permanent galleries focuses on a particular tropical niche, introducing visitors to the vast array of plant species that call the rain forest home. In addition to their glorious year-round displays, the Conservatory also features special exhibits.

On view now through April 18 is ‘Golden Gate Garden Railway Exhibit'. It’s a celebration of the city of San Francisco as a model train, cable car, streetcar and more wend their way through a lush landscape of dwarf plants and mini versions of the city’s landmark buildings.

Up next is their infamous 'Carnivorous Plant Exhibit'. This once again immerses visitors in a swampy paradise for meat-eating plants. The extraordinary beauty and diversity of species on display will dazzle even the most squeamish. It's their Little Shop of Horticultural Horrors! This will be on view May 7th-October 31st.
